Product Overview:

TaxJar is a sales tax and reporting tool for online sellers. It integrates with Amazon, Ebay, Etsy, Paypal, and Shopify, among others which means there's no manual uploading of information. The automated reports are created for all states, and offer sellers an easier solution for handling taxes and other administrative tasks. Each day a new report is generated, and sellers are even notified if there is a filing due date coming up. AutoFile is another feature within TaxJar, that gives sellers the option to let the tool complete tax filings on his or her behalf.

Mark Faggiano founded TaxJar, among other tech companies, and currently resides in San Diego.

  • I've heard from some sellers that Tax Jar really isn't needed. This is not verified and I'm not providing advice of any sort, but I was under the impression that the Marketplace Fairness Act was more or less dead in the water.

If you don't know, the Marketplace Fairness Act was the proposed bill to be able to tax across state lines for online retailers, much like brick and mortar stores do. In other words, a way to let big brand stores like Walmart, CVS, etc compete against monster online sellers such as Amazon who can many times get away with zero state sales tax.

So if the bill isn't going to go through, then I thought TaxJar isn't needed.

If I'm wrong, I would LOVE to be educated!
